ABUJA — A major breakthrough has been recorded in Nigeria’s fight against kidnapping after joint security operatives rescued 308 abducted persons during coordinated operations across Kwara and Niger states.
The rescue mission also secured the freedom of victims who had been held captive after attacks on communities, including residents of Woro in Kwara State.
According to security authorities, the operation involved multiple security agencies working together to track down kidnappers and safely recover those in captivity. The victims were rescued from different locations during a series of intelligence-led operations.
Officials said many of those rescued had already reunited with their families, while others are receiving medical attention and psychological support after enduring days and, in some cases, weeks in captivity.
The successful operation comes as security agencies continue efforts to dismantle criminal networks responsible for kidnappings along major highways and rural communities in the North-Central region.
Authorities also revealed that clearance operations are still ongoing to locate remaining suspects and prevent further attacks.
The rescue has been welcomed by residents and community leaders, who described it as a significant step in restoring confidence in ongoing security efforts.
As investigations continue, security agencies have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities that could help prevent future abductions.
