Otto Addo, the Black Stars’ head coach, has issued a request for support before of their encounter against Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ghana will be hosted by Palancras Negras in the Matchday five of the qualifications at the Estádio 11 de Novembro, with kick-off slated for 19:00 GMT.
According to Otto Addo, supporting the team enhances players’ confidence, whereas countless fan attacks can distract players and impair their performance.
He urged Ghanaians to tone down their criticism and support the players as they aim to defeat Angola.
“I appeal for your assistance. When athletes feel comfortable, they are more likely to perform well. However, in a poisonous atmosphere, it is tough for them. They are people, and we must support.
The 45-year-old also discussed the technical team’s plans to ensure players’ comfort and confidence before the game.
“Our technical team will aim to make them feel at ease and happy, as well as discuss the negative and positive moments from our past games. Because there were many positives from the games we played, and we created a lot of chances, we now need to work on them to score,” he said.
Ghana risks missing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after collecting only two points from four games. However, Otto Addo and his team have been given a lifeline after Niger defeated Sudan 4-0, and they must now win against Angola and Niger to qualify.
