Both models include the A15 Bionic chip with a 5-core GPU, which provides exceptional performance and efficiency for demanding workloads and is built with privacy and security in mind. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are the first devices in the industry to include critical safety features such as Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite. This iPhone lineup is more advanced than ever before, with incredible battery life, industry-leading durability features, and super-fast 5G.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available in the following colors: midnight, blue, starlight, purple, and (PRODUCT)RED1. Pre-orders begin on Friday, September 9, with iPhone 14 availability beginning on Friday, September 16, and iPhone 14 Plus availability beginning on Friday, October 7.

“Our customers rely on their iPhone every day, and the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus introduce game-changing new technologies and critical safety features.” Users can enjoy more content onscreen when browsing the web and even more text with the new, larger 6.7-inch display on iPhone 14 Plus,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

“Both phones have a powerful new Main camera with a significant improvement in low-light performance, advanced connectivity capabilities with 5G and eSIM, and the incredible performance of A15 Bionic, which contributes to even longer battery life.” All of this, combined with iOS 16, makes the iPhone more important than ever.”

A Beautiful and Long-Lasting Design with Outstanding Battery Life

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, available in the popular 6.1-inch size and a stunning new 6.7-inch size2, feature a durable and sleek aerospace-grade aluminum design in five beautiful finishes. The larger display of the iPhone 14 Plus is ideal for streaming movies and playing games, and it has the best battery life of any iPhone.

3 Both models feature an updated internal design for improved thermal performance, as well as stunning Super Retina XDR displays with OLED technology that support 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and Dolby Vision.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus also have the durable Ceramic Shield front cover, which is exclusive to iPhone and tougher than any other smartphone glass, and are water and dust resistant.

Upgrades for Powerful Cameras Photonic Engine makes this possible.

With a new 12MP Main camera with a larger sensor and larger pixels, a new front TrueDepth camera, the Ultra Wide camera to capture more of a scene, and Photonic Engine for a giant leap in low-light performance, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus set a new standard for photo and video capture.

Photonic Engine improves mid- to low-light performance for photos across all cameras by up to 2x on the Ultra Wide camera, 2x on the TrueDepth camera, and an impressive 2.5x on the new Main camera, thanks to a deep integration of hardware and software. Photonic Engine enables this dramatic increase in quality by incorporating Deep Fusion’s computational benefits earlier in the imaging process to deliver extraordinary detail, preserve subtle textures, provide better color, and retain more information in a photo.

Satellite Crash Detection and Emergency SOS

The iPhone 14 lineup as a whole introduces ground-breaking safety features that can provide emergency assistance when it matters most. Crash Detection on iPhone can now detect a severe car crash and automatically dial emergency services when a user is unconscious or unable to reach their iPhone, thanks to a new dual-core accelerometer capable of detecting G-force measurements of up to 256Gs and a new high dynamic range gyroscope.

These capabilities expand on existing components such as the barometer, which can now detect changes in cabin pressure, the GPS for additional input for speed changes, and the microphone5, which can recognize loud noises characteristic of severe car accidents. Even better accuracy is provided by advanced Apple-designed motion algorithms trained on over a million hours of real-world driving and crash record data.

Crash Detection, when combined with Apple Watch, seamlessly leverages the unique strengths of both devices to efficiently get users help. When a severe crash is detected, the emergency services call interface appears on Apple Watch because it is likely to be closer to the user, while the call is placed through iPhone if it is in range for the best possible connection.

The iPhone 14 lineup also includes Satellite Emergency SOS, which combines custom components deeply integrated with software to allow antennas to connect directly to a satellite, enabling messaging with emergency services when outside of cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. Satellites are moving targets with limited bandwidth, and messages can take minutes to arrive. Because every second counts, iPhone front-loads a few critical questions to assess the user’s situation and shows them where to point their phone to connect to a satellite with Emergency SOS via satellite.

The initial questionnaire and subsequent messages are then routed to centers staffed by Appletrained specialists who can contact Apple on the user’s behalf. When there is no cellular or Wi-Fi connection, users can manually share their location with Find My via satellite, providing a sense of security when hiking or camping off the grid. Emergency SOS via satellite will be available to users in the United States and Canada in November, and it will be free for the first two years.

Strong Connection Capabilities

iPhone users can stay in touch, share, and enjoy content with superfast downloads and uploads, improved streaming, and real-time connectivity with 5G.
8 Support for 5G on iPhone is now available from over 250 carrier partners in over 70 countries, with expanded support for standalone networks.

eSIM enables users to connect to or quickly transfer their existing plans digitally, is a more secure alternative to a physical SIM card, and allows users to use multiple cellular plans on a single device. For US models, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus remove the SIM tray, allowing users to set up their devices more quickly and easily.
Apple Fitness+ is available to all iPhone users.

Later this fall, for the first time, Apple Fitness+ will be available to all iPhone users in the 21 countries where it is available, even if they do not own an Apple Watch. The entire service, which includes over 3,000 studio-style workouts and meditations led by a diverse and inclusive team of trainers, will be available to iPhone users. Users of Fitness+ will see on-screen trainer guidance and interval timing, and estimated calories burned will be used to progress on their Move ring.

Fitness+ will be fully integrated with the Fitness app that will be available with iOS 16 and will be located in the middle tab, where users will be able to stay motivated to close their Move ring through awards, activity sharing, and other means. Signing up requires only an iPhone, and users can then enjoy Fitness+ on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
