The PGMOL has suspended Premier League referee David Coote with immediate effect.
On Monday, a statement affirmed this.
After an unconfirmed video purporting to show Coote making disparaging remarks against Liverpool and its former manager, Jurgen Klopp, went viral on social media on Monday, Coote was suspended.
David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect while a thorough inquiry is conducted, according to a PGMOL statement.
“Until that process is finished, PGMOL will not be commenting further.”
On Saturday night, Coote officiated Liverpool’s victory over Aston Villa at Anfield.
On Tuesday night at 7 p.m., Howard Webb, the head of referees, will be on Match Officials: Mic’d Up on Sky Sports Premier League.
